היצרתיות, החזון הכה יחודי והאומנות הכה מקוונית מורגשים בכל יצירה שעיצב ב-19 שנים של קריירה מעוררת השראה. מוצגת אפילו קולקציית הסיום שלו מ Central Saint Martins מ-1992.
התערוכה נקראת “Savage Beauty”-"יופי פראי" וזה טייטל מעולה לניגודים בעבודותיו של מקווין.
הוא התעסק המון בקיצוניות בין בחיים ומוות, אור וחושך, טורף ונטרף ואדם ומכונה. יצאתי משם עם כל כך הרבה התלהבות והשראה וגם עם עצב שמעצב גדול מהחיים כמוהו כבר לא בחיים. ניגודיות מוחלטת.
התערוכה עוצבה בצורה גאונית: אווירה אפלולית המפעילה את כל החושים, עוברים מחדר לחדר לפי נושאי הקולקציות ולא רוצים שזה ייגמר! בליווי טלוויזיות שמשדרות את תצוגות האופנה של מקווין הכה לא קונבנציונליות שהיו בעצם מופעי אומנות יותר מתצוגת אופנה על מסלול.
הייתי עם פה פעור מרוב התפעלות מהדמיון והביצוע של מקווין המחונן. החומרים שהשתמש, ההדפסים שעיצב, פיסולי הבדים, הצורות המופלאות של הנעליים והאביזרים והסיפורים והמסר של כל קולקציה.
הוא באמת היה אחד במינו עם טונה כישרון והעזה! באמצעות האופנה הוא ביטא את הרבדים החשוכים בנפשו עם הרומנטיות הניצחית שקיננה בו. העיד על עצמו כרומנטיקן סכיזופרני.
הוא שאף לתת כוח ויופי לנשים שהלביש, רצה שאנשים ייפחדו מהן. ללבוש מקווין לדבריו זה כמו ללבוש שריון, זו דרך מאוד פסיכולוגית להתלבש.
רכשתי את הספר המדהים מהתערוכה, לא היה קל לבחור רק חלק מעבודותיו אז הפוסט קצת ארוך ♥

The show at the Metropolitan "Alexander McQueen : Savage Beauty" is one of the best show I've ever seen. It's the perfect title for McQueen's contrasting opposites work with "life or death, lightness or darkness, predator/prey, man/machine." The show emphasizes the late McQueen contribution to fashion. More than 100 designs and 70 accessories are on display celebrating the designer 19 year career including his Central Saint Martins postgraduate collection in 1992.
I left the show so inspired and uplifted but also sad that this bigger then life designer ended his life.

The exhibit layout and ambiance enhance McQueen's perspective, dark murky atmosphere which activates all senses, you walk through many rooms based on the different collections themes and McQueen's inspirations and you just don't want it to end!
McQueen's magnificent artistic fashion shows are shown on TV's on the walls.
I was so blown away from McQueens imagination and brilliant execution; The materials, the prints he designed, the fabric manipulation, the magical shapes of the shoes and accessories and the unique story of every collection.
He really was one of a kind with tones of daring talent! Through fashion he expressed his soul darker layers with his eternal romantic outlook. He called himself a romantic schizophrenic.
With his designs he aspired to empower his women. "It’s almost like putting armor on a woman. It's a very psychological way of dressing."
I purchased the amazing book from the show, it wasn't easy to pick only a few of his works, so this post is a little long ♥
